Speechi in La Gazette

A journalist from La Gazette visited Speechi’s offices to interview its CEO, Benjamin Brousse, and its CTO and Head of Innovation, Didier Scellier. The interview provided an opportunity to retrace the company’s history and highlight what makes Speechi unique in the interactive technology landscape.

In this blog post, we briefly revisit the key ideas mentioned in La Gazette’s article, while also sharing some additional resources for those who want to explore further.

🌍 Speechi, a French brand going global

At the beginning of the article, La Gazette introduces Speechi to its readers, reminding them that it is a Lille-based company that started in the early 2000s with the sale of interactive presentation software. Later, the company moved into interactive whiteboards (including the well-known eBeam) before establishing itself as the French leader in the sale of interactive displays for schools.

After building 20 years of expertise in interactivity in France, Speechi has now expanded internationally under its new leadership. Today, exports of our interactive displays account for 30% of our revenue, fueling exciting projects in neighboring European countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, with promising prospects also emerging in Africa.

🤝 A strong and lasting connection with education

Interactive Displays enter classrooms

As the article points out, our first customers were french schools, which gradually adopted this new tool, giving it the acronym ENI (Écran Numérique Interactif, or Interactive Digital Display).

While some European countries, such as Germany, are far ahead in digitizing their schools, the process has accelerated in France in recent years thanks to public investment policies launched by the Ministry of Education.

The digitization of Marseille schools with Speechi

Through the Territoires Numériques Éducatifs (TNE) investment policy, we took part in a large-scale project in partnership with the Aix-Marseille Academy, the City of Marseille, and UGAP. The goal: to equip every primary school classroom and every preschool in Marseille with a Speechi interactive display.

We shared the story of this project [on this page], recounting its milestones from inception to results, including a video with testimonials from school principals and teachers after a year of using Speechi ENIs in their classrooms.

Finally, the journalist mentions a recent event that raised concerns about the security of technology in schools:

“In 2024, more than a hundred schools were hacked in the space of one week.”

This issue of security has been central to Connect since its conception. The article highlights features such as allowing school administrators to control what can or cannot be downloaded, access protocols, and data storage that takes place exclusively in the country where the display is located.

To learn more about Connect’s philosophy and its security-first approach, we recommend reading the interview with Didier Scellier featured in the article Speechi Connect in a few words by Didier Scellier, Technical Director at Speechi.”
