1. Excellent Resolution Across All Three Models (↑)
With resolutions of 8MP and 13MP, all three Speechi document cameras are UHD 4K*. However, the VI-102 and VI-801 outperform the Speechicam 7 with an additional 5 million pixels.
*UHD 4K corresponds to 3,840 horizontal pixels by 2,160 vertical pixels — i.e., 8 million pixels.
Just a quick focus…
A digital image is made up of pixels—individual dots displaying a specific color and brightness, much like a painter’s brush strokes. The more pixels an image contains, the more detailed, beautiful, and sharp it will appear.
The resolution of a camera sensor indicates how detailed the image can be, depending on the number of pixels. It’s measured in megapixels, abbreviated as “MP” (1 MP = 1 million pixels).
2. Zoom Capabilities (↑)
The Speechicam 7 and the VI-102 offer comparable performance, while the VI-801 clearly stands out with its x22 optical zoom—unique among the three.
Digital Zoom
Identical on all three models, digital zoom is managed through their Eye Present Pro software.
Mechanical Zoom
Estimated at x2 for each, mechanical zoom works by physically lowering the articulated arm to bring the camera closer to the object.
Optical Zoom
Only the VI-801 features an optical zoom (x22)—a lens with an adjustable focal length. A major advantage since this type of zoom maintains resolution quality.
3. Focus (↑)
When the image is blurry, it’s time to adjust the focus.
Autofocus
All three document cameras feature autofocus (AF): the Speechicam 7 via a button on the camera head, the VI-102 and VI-801 via buttons on the base and remote control.
Manual Focus
The VI-102 and VI-801 also allow manual focus adjustments via +/- buttons on their remotes.

VI-102 Document Camera
