Interactive displays are increasingly being labeled as “Google EDLA Certified.” But what does Google EDLA certification mean? Why is this new standard important? And what does it change for users of our Speechi interactive displays?
What Is Google EDLA?
Behind the acronym EDLA* lies a program launched by Google in 2022, allowing interactive display manufacturers to integrate Google Mobile Services (GMS) into their products.
*EDLA stands for Enterprise Devices Licensing Agreement.
What Are Google Mobile Services?
These services include Google’s suite of applications that you commonly use for personal and professional purposes on your smartphone or tablet:

- Google Chrome web browser
- Google Drive cloud storage
- YouTube video platform
- Google Play Store for app downloads
- Google Maps mapping tool…
Why Are This Certification and These GMS Important?
They are important—or at least interesting—for improving your experience with the interactive display. Here are four key advantages not to be overlooked:
1/- The interactive display finally aligns with your smartphone and tablet habits with a familiar tool environment and access to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

2/- As a user, you have the assurance that all services provided by Google are fully functional and optimized for the specific device.

3/- You can now install applications with a single click from the Play Store, just as you would on your smartphone or tablet.

4/- Your interactive display gains enhanced security, benefiting from Google Play Protect, which monitors and detects suspicious app behavior, blocking them if necessary.

How to Get Google’s App Suite on My Speechi Interactive Display (Without EDLA Certification)?
Already own a Speechi interactive display that isn’t Google EDLA certified and want access to Google’s app suite? Nothing is lost!
Before Google addressed the issue of interactive business displays, we had already launched a Google EDLA Certified Android OPS, offering an alternative solution for customers who needed easy access to this ecosystem.
