Health: Speechi interactive screen at the heart of a retirement home

Residences specializing in care for the elderly have no shortage of ideas to keep them stimulated. Activities range from gym classes where residents get back into shape, to bingo games where they try their luck, and sometimes the staff go so far as to add a digital touch to their activities with an interactive digital screen.

It’s never easy for the elderly to leave the home where they have the most fond memories, but some make the sensible choice to fight loneliness. It’s for these 730,000 senior residents in France that we need to constantly improve living conditions. To achieve this, some residences have opted to acquire new equipment such as Speechi interactive screens.

Interactive digital screens to liven up residence life

Some of these residences, like the Maison d’Accueil et de Résidence pour l’Autonomie (Marpa) Le clos des deux Sources in Saulty, have installed a Speechi interactive screen that gives residents access to an infinite range of activities.

The team at the Marpa residence has found the Speechi interactive screen to be not only an accessible tool that can include all residents, even those with visual or hearing disabilities, thanks to its large screen size and adjustable volume, but also a practical tool that, once mounted on a mobile stand on wheels, can be stored away or moved from one area to another depending on the activities being carried out.

To liven up life at the home in a different way, staff use the interactive digital screen to set up different activities to stimulate residents’ abilities, particularly their cognitive ones, as confirmed by the person in charge of the digital service: “We do fun activities, memory games“. To take part in the games set up, residents are given touch-sensitive tablets which can, in turn, be displayed on the interactive screen using the EShare application.

Thanks to a partnership with the Saulty tourist office, the Marpa residence also uses the Speechi touchscreen to take its residents on a journey without moving from their chairs, through various fun activities set up by the Saulty tourist office.

After a number of stimulating activities, it’s time for a break. So how do you make the most of an interactive screen? The Marpa residence uses it as a TV screen, especially for movie nights. Residents also particularly appreciate this display option for celebrating birthdays or singing at the top of their voices during karaoke evenings.

An interactive digital screen to keep in touch with others

By adding a Full HD camera to the screen, the Marpa center has added a new dimension to the interactive screen, enabling residents to make videoconference calls to their children and loved ones.
However, the interactive screen doesn’t just provide a link between loved ones, but also between generations. In 2021, the Marpa de Saulty residence organized an exchange between a local primary school class and the residence’s seniors via videoconferencing. This meeting led to discussions and an exchange of knowledge. Visit our Speechi.com website to discover the interactive screens that will put a smile on our seniors’ faces.
